Gibson Guitar Neck Reset
This Gibson J-185 needed a neck reset (removing and regluing the neck to correct its angle). Part of the challenge was to keep the original look of the reverse tongue extension over the body. While I was at it, I fixed the loose bridge.
Resetting the neck on a Gibson J-185
The Gibson J-185 is a great fingerstyle guitar – one of my all-time favorites. The interesting thing about this neck reset was the tongue extension over the body: Gibson’s reversed extension included a tapering wedge of wood. I’ve noticed that many repairmen remove this during a Gibson neck reset, but decided to recreate it to keep the guitar original.
