Galloup Guitars

Tone to inspire and reliability to last a lifetime.

Throughout my Lutherie career I’ve been searching for the truth, stripping the instrument down to its most basic form to unlock tonal excellence that would be second to none. This led to the development of my Computer Assisted Voicing™ approach that delivers a clear, open bell like tone with the response to inspire the most demanding players and engineered reliability to protect my customers investment.

My family of instruments are designed from the ground up to meet the demands of the modern guitar market. Along with each specific model, I offer featured options and tone wood upgrades to help you personalize your guitar. I often work with clients to design customized features that further make their instrument a unique, personalized experience.

Grand Auditorium
(G.2)

"I played a custom Galloup Guitar for years that was one of the best sounding instruments I ever had. Unfortunately I lost it in the Nashville Cumberland River flood a few years back. My boss Kathy Mattea commissioned one from Bryan to replace the one I lost and it still has that same classic Galloup tone." - Bill Cooley

G.2 Grand Auditorium

A low, solid, defined resonance is desired by many players for the foundation of their sound. The trick is to balance the low end with a defined midrange while retaining a clear high end. My G.2 is a Grand Auditorium classed instrument with an excellent fundamental resonance ideal for traditional Americana performances.

“If you’re looking for great low end volume and clarity, my G.2 has it. I have spent decades perfecting its tone to deliver a well balanced, powerful performer."
-Bryan

ORCHESTRA
(G.3)

G.3 Orchestra
The Orchestra classed guitar has become the go-to instrument for many performers for its emphasis on balance and clarity. The higher pitched fundamental is the key to its success, so I developed my G3 to match the resonances players prefer for more articulated music styles.

“My G3’s 15.5 lower bout and classic Orchestra body depth give it a smaller frame, something many players prefer and for finger style performances, I have carefully balanced its mobility for the response and feel this class of instrument is known for”.

GRAND PARLOR
(G.4)

G.4 Grand Parlor
My G.4 is a small 12 fret to-the-body design that has an extended shoulder area which lowers its fundamental while retaining the positioning and feel players identify with on a 12 fret instrument. The design works well with both short and long scale lengths; this makes for a versatile instrument that is both easy-chair comfortable and has enough punch to accompany an ensemble.

“This is my go to guitar for everyday playing. Its smaller compact frame makes it so much fun to hold and play”.

Auditorium
(G.6)

“My Galloup Guitar has a special place in my acoustic collection. Using wood from my home state of Michigan, Bryan crafted a beautiful instrument made from northern Michigan hard maple”.- Jeff Daniels

G.6 Auditorium
The Auditorium is the preferred body size for many players for its emphasis on defined low end, balance and clarity. My G.6 is a great Auditorium classed instrument ideal for finger style, Jazz and crossover classical performances. Its medium body size reminds you that something is in your hands without the mass of a full traditional guitar.

“For many players my G.6 is an ideal match for their wide repertoire without crossing over to a full bodied instrument."
-Bryan

ACOUSTIC BASS
(G.9C)

G.9C
Many players find themselves wanting an acoustic bass guitar that performs just like a standard acoustic guitar, but there are two big issues. First, it has to fit your body just like an electric bass would with a full 34 inch scale. Secondly, the tone has to be clear, open, and balanced. My G.9 C’s patent pending design is the first guitar-formatted acoustic bass that allows this all to happen.

“I custom designed my load displacement system to allow the use of a full 34”scale while retaining the feel a bass player is use to. This is a big deal, they shouldn’t be asked to learn a new instrument; they just want to play. Not to mention that the tone is killer."
-Bryan

Standard Specs:

Tone Wood

My Tone Wood Library is one of the most prestigious private collections in the world. I systematically assembled each example then dynamically test them through my Galloup Wood Management™ Software. This approach generates my proprietary Galloup Rating™ which guarantees dynamic control of tone and reliability.

The tone woods I offer are decades old with many reaching vintage or even antique status. All tone woods are separated into three categories; Master Grade for their unique beauty and rarity. Reserve Grade for examples that meet an elevated criteria of rarity, beauty and Privet Stock that meets only the highest standards for tone, response, rarity and beauty. Master Grade tone woods are use for all builds at my standard base price, Reserve Grade and Privet Stock are offered at a premium.

Sound Profiling

In the summer of 2002 I took a sabbatical from guitar making to devote 100% of my time to the research of the American Steel String Guitar. This developed system called Computer Assisted Voicing (CAV), this produced a system that seamlessly looped guitar making into a process.

Even though I’ve made incredible sounding instruments, it was only in 2015 when I made guitar number #1501 that I achieved my goal. This guitar not only produced the sound, response and feel I was looking for, I knew I could reproduce it every time. This was the birth of the modern Galloup Guitar tone.

Currently my process has evolved into the Galloup Instrument Making System which includes the Sound Profiling and Wood Management Software. My systems and the accompanying inventions that make them work are a patient pending process currently being leased by major manufactures and industry leaders. How this translates to the player is; a world class concert level instrument with the tone to inspire and reliability to last a lifetime.
